Should I Backup my QuickBooks Online (QBO) Data?
Should you backup your QBO data?
The short answer is yes!
But doesn’t Intuit backup my QBO data now?
The answer there is also yes,
BUT…
UNDERSTANDING YOUR NEED FOR QBO DATA BACKUP
Imagine the following common (bad) scenarios that regularly happen to QBO data:
- Human error
- Accidental deletion of one or more entries (imagine accidentally deleting a 30 line journal entry!)
- A CSV or Excel import gone wild
- Third-party app errors
- Malicious deletion of data by disgruntled staff
This graphic helps visualize just what Intuit is backing up (the “platform”), and what they are not:

Hi Scott,
Hope all is well and you are ready for a fun Memorial weekend.
Will Rewind Backup allow me to backup up to individual files all my clients with just one user?
I’m thinking I could backup all of my clients and have available in case a client has a meltdown.
Thanks Eileen
Hi Eileen:
Thanks for your message.
Not sure I completely understand your question, but will try…
Rewind Backup is for QBO (not desktop) as well as other apps outside of QB too. Each QBO company file/customer account would need to be backed up separately.
That being said, Rewind does offer you the ability as an accountant/bookkeeper to manage multiple QBO company file backups from your own “dashboard”. They even offer discounted pricing if you choose to back up multiple client files.
You can see more as to how this works on their pricing page here – https://rewind.com/pricing/. Just click on the QB option to see the file counter and related info.
If you do choose to open a trial or live account, please use my Rewind referral link if possible – https://rewindio.grsm.io/scottgregory7186
Hope this helps. If not, let me know and we can figure it out.
